“Beyond the Pandemic,” by Diane Dickson, is a highlight of our second issue, delineating the offerings of our peer orchestras during this challenging time. We also feature our Associate Concertmaster, Yana Bourkova-Morunov, as our highlighted musician, and are proud to include an editorial cartoon by the Journal-Gazette’s Gregg Bender.

“What is Our Orchestra’s Future?" by Diane Dickson is the feature this month. She discusses the work of Michael Kaiser, the current Chair of the DeVos Institute of Arts Management at the University of Maryland, and known as the “Turnaround King.” Cellist, David Rezits, is our featured musician.

In this “Focus on Education” issue, we’re highlighting the role of Philharmonic musicians as educators and our performances in school settings. Perspectives from one of our musicians and a music educator from Southwest Allen Community Schools are included. Cindy Greider is our musician focus as she retires from the Philharmonic after 34 years, and we’re featuring Fort Wayne Students in Support of Musicians, a new group formed recently at Purdue University-Fort Wayne.

We’re featuring our ensemble program in this month’s newsletter. Diane Dickson explores the history of these performances. For our Musician Highlight, principal bassist and arranger, Adrian Mann, has written about his ensemble, “The Resonators,” made up of harp, percussion, bass and violin.
