Laurie Blanchet
Laurie joined the clarinet section of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic in 2022, and is a substitute with orchestras in Canada and in the United States. She has performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Grand Rapids Symphony, Columbus Symphony Orchestra, The Florida Orchestra, Orchestre symphonique de Québec and New World Symphony.
Laurie was the Acting Principal Clarinetist of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic during the 2021-2022 Season. She is a former member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and a former military musician with the Canadian Army Forces.
Laurie is a native of Québec, Canada, and is an alumni of DePaul University in Chicago, McGill University in Montréal, Conservatoire de musique de Québec and Université de Sherbrooke. Laurie’s primary teachers include Stephen Williamson, Marie Picard and Nathalie DeGrâce.
Laurie is married to Brian Johnston, Trombonist of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, and they reside with their rescue dog Leo.
